This year’s WTLC tour explored Wisconsin’s northwestern sector, north of Hwy 8 and mostly west of Hwy 13. Teachers on the tour found out what sets this area apart culturally, economically, politically, historically and geographically. The tour allowed participants to:
- Visit several Ojibwe reservations
- Explore mining practice and policy in the Penokee-Gogebic Range
- Learn on-site about the Lake Superior watershed and shoreline
- Stay overnight at a former CCC camp in the Chequamegon National Forest
- Examine the dynamics and damage of severe weather in Burnett County
- Visit stronghold ethnic communities like Finns in Hurley
